AcreditaCI

Acredita CI is an Agency committed to quality assurance processes in higher education, putting at your disposal 12 years of experience in the development of these processes with nearly 700 accredited majors and master´s programs in the following areas: Administration and Commerce , Technology, Sciences and Natural Resources.

The Agency was born under the wing of the Colegio de Ingenieros de Chile in 2006. The Colegio de Ingenieros de Chile has among its objectives:

  • “Promote the personal, professional, scientific and technological improvement of its partners”.
  • “Promote the development of Engineering and the progress, prestige and prerogatives of the Engineering profession”.
  • “Contribute with the knowledge and experiences of its partners to the development of the country, in its broadest sense”.
  • “Contribute to the academic training of engineers”.
  • “Ensure discipline and compliance by its partners with the ethical principles of the organization, established in the Colegio de Ingenieros de Chile Ethics Code.”

AcreditaCI was formalized in May 2006, intended as the necessary step to help strengthen the Strategic Objectives of the Colegio de Ingenieros de Chile, related to contributing to the academic training of engineers, incorporating ethical education, and promoting the development of Engineering and the progress, prestige and prerogatives of the Engineering profession.

From the beginning, Acredita CI has been in contact with its international peers to incorporate best practices in accreditation processes.

Following the promulgation of the law 21.091 of May 2019 in Chile that ruled to suspend the accreditation of programs which will be resumed in 2025 by the CNA (among other important matters), the Colegio de Ingenieros de Chile took a time to decide the course of the Acredita CI and confirmed its initial decision. Acredita CI has a relevant role to play in the education and formation of engineers in Chile, so it decided to continue providing a service that goes beyond the country’s borders, through accreditation for engineering based on international criteria established by the Washington Accord.

Acredita CI together with the College Colegio de Ingenieros de Chile will promote the permanent updating of the graduation profiles of the academic formation of engineers and will guide the development of professional skills required by society to strengthen their relationship with the environment; supporting the programs of Higher Education Institutions through the accreditation processes.

It is part of this great objective, to guide Higher Education Institutions to incorporate the best practices in quality assurance mechanisms at the Academic Unit and Program level, as well as continue supporting Institutions in their processes of continuous improvement for their future comprehensive and mandatory institutional accreditation.

That is why Acredita CI has been accepted by the most prestigious engineering accrediting agencies as a provisional member of the Washington Agreement since June 2018.

The International Engineering Alliance – IEA (www.ieagreements.org), through the Washington Accord, promotes the quality of engineering education in its preparation for professional practice, through the accreditation of the program considering agreed graduate attributes among member countries. The accredited program is recognized as substantially equivalent in the current 20 member countries of the Accord: Australia, Canada, China, Chinese Taipei, Hong Kong, India, Ireland, Japan, Malaysia, New Zealand, Pakistan, Peru, Russia, Singapore, South Africa, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Turkey, the United Kingdom and the United States; to facilitate professional mobility.

In addition, at Latin American level, Acredita CI is a member of the Lima Accord, which, like the Washington Accord, promotes the recognition of the substantial equivalence of the formation of accredited  engineering programs in Latin America, to facilitate their professional mobility in countries of the region. Current members of the Lima Accord are: Mexico, Costa Rica, the countries of Central America and the Caribbean, Peru and Chile. Through the Lima Accord, it is expected to advance in the recognition of the Graduate Attributes promoted by the International Engineering Alliance, for the accreditation processes conducted by ARCUSUR, as the first objective.
